To All concerned parents ,and music lovers ,sportsmen Help
another problem for all us canning towners and sportmen alike .
THe publican in the Black Lion  in Plaistow E13, who owns the West Ham boxing club Gymnasium, which is at the rear of the pub, wants to raized it to the ground when the lease expires in a couple of years time.and build a block of flats,he is prepared to let the boxing club use the cellar of the pub as there new premises,Which is completely out of the question, being much smaller than the gym they are in now,So there is a petition being sent to the council planning office to oppose the application, you can log you objection via the link below quoting ref,09/00370/FUL.

Hello Terry, lets hope it really is good news. Fred and Scully do their bit for the club what with the sponsorship and petition etc. One of the few remaining ex bridgehouse patrons in East Ham is Richard Cousins aka Godfrey, whose son Miles is a golden gloves winner boxing out of West Ham Boys. Me and Darren were sitting in a van listening to music this saturday night (sounds weird but isnt really!) when Godfrey walked past. I called him over and the pair of them were off, talking about the whole gym thing. They were both suprised to see each other but it was soon business as usual with the pair of them chatting and both knowing more than me about the club. Its much better for kids to get it out of their system in the ring, than it is to stab each other in the street. Fingers crossed all round for all concerned.
Lee.
