Hi all

Thought some of you may like to know that we are holding our first "Bridgefest" on 29th & 30th August.

On the Saturday 29th we have Italy's premier "Pink Floyd" Tribute coming over, as well as some local acts.

The Saturday is being used as a warm up for the main day which is on Sunday  30th August when we have Oliver/Dawson's "Saxon" Headlining + "Praying Mantis" + "Dennis Stratton" (Tribute to the Maiden years) + "That Legendary Wooden Lion" featuring "Roy Weard" former "Dogwatch" & "Last Post" + "Slam" + "Kate Newley" + " Silas".

If you wanted to find out more please go to our web site at www.bh2live.com

The event is being held outside in our yard at the rear of the building, so i guess we can call it a "Festival"?

Anyway it would be grat to see some old friends of the Bridge House down here,

Hope you can make it down.  Best wishes to all.

Keep music Live!!!!!!!

I may be a little biased here as I play in That Legendary Wooden Lion (Roy Weards band). I got there in the afternoon and saw Kate Newleys band - she's a great voice & stage presence, backed by a competent band (especially their drummer Tony!). Next up were Slam - an old fashioned 'pub' style band, again an engaging band who went down well with their audience (probably all relatives  Wink)
We were up next and had a great time (one of only 2 bands doing original numbers  Grin). We had Chris Mott back on drums and he was on fire - he must have been missing playing the previuous few gigs. Tony Morely (Jefferson Starship / Quicksilver Messenger Service amongst others, who has been filling in on drums for us recently, played accoustic 12 string on one number. We went down well & we all enjoyed it - good to see old friends (one who we'd not seen for over 20 years - hello Mouse) as well as meet new ones. Shame it wasn't dark when we played as we could have made full use of the excellent light show there (well done Cliff).
Next up were Praying Mantis - they put on a great professional show - great musicianship and stage presence. Never one of my favourite bands but they were certainly good live - our bass player (Chris Cottage thought they were excellent).
Next band were Denis Stratton & Dave Edwards (with drummer & bass player) doing their Iron Maiden tribute - again most enjoyable with both Denis & Dave displaying great guitar craft, the audience loved them.
I didn't stay to see Oliver Dawson's Saxon as we had a long drive back to Saffron Walden (ok not that long but we'd had a hectic weekend). The reports I got back were that Saxon put on a top rate show, full of great musical skill and rock posturing.
Overall it was an excellent weekend with great acts and an appreciative audience. We're looking forward to more of them.

Special thanks should go out to Steve the Wrekka & Roy Weard for doing the sound for the bands, the security who were friendly (yet assertive) and the staff at the Bridgehouse who were as charming & accomodating as ever.

Thanks for those kind words   Wink
The stage was a good size (enabling Roy to go through his full repertoire of theatrics) and the audience had a good view - I know as I watched the other bands from different vantage points.
I will definitely pass on your regards to Roy.
The band (That Legendary Wooden Lion) are recording a live DVD at the Bridgehouse 2 on Sunday November 8th (indoors this time).
All the best.

Just to let you know.  We had lots of positive feedback from the weekend, and are looking to do many more next year.  I found this review online, just use the link to view.

Cardinal.

I have to say, i thought it was the best i have ever seen the Lion play. A few people (me included) thought you were the best act of the day!

Hopeful of having you back here in the new year.

All the best

Tony

Shucks, thanks for that - the band had a great time at the Bridgefest. Watching bands as well as playing.
We resume rehearsals on the 30th December and are looking forward to playing at the Bridgehouse again soon.

Love and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all at the Bridgehouse and everyone on this board.
