One of my favorite bands at the Bridge had ex DFT singer Bobo Pheonix, suprisingly enough on vocals and ex Slaughter and the Dogs guitarist Mike Rossi, but for the life of me I can't remember who else was in the band or what they where called.

They had a great song called, I think, "Revolutions in my head", anyone out there got a better memory than me?

I think I've just remembered myself, I'm pretty sure it was the Monsters.

Mike was in Slaughter & the Dogs both before and after the Monsters, they're still gigging now. I reckon the Monsters probably did a good 10-15 shows at the Bridge, They always played my night off, which I think was Tuesday, so I always ended up putting most of my wages back over the bar.

In my opinion the Monsters were the best band to play at the bridge. I think the bassist was in Slaughter & The Dogs as well but cant remember who the drummer was. I have a live tape of them and my son still pinches it and plays it in the car. Its like a greatest hits gig. Every song is classic. They were touted in the music press as the future of rock n roll. The so called talent scouts missed out big time by not signing the band. Mike Rossi was in tears at the bridge the night he broke the news that Bobo was leaving the band due to no interest from any of the record companies. We all tried to talk Bobo round but he had made his mind up and that seemed to be that. What a shame. If there are any other tapes or demos floating round I would love to have a copy.

Hello Steve, Im in Paris, France at the moment and havent been near a puter for a couple of months. Every time one of the locals winds me up I burst into the first line of Kens old song! I dont think they get it, but it makes me feel better!!
Of course you can have a copy of the Monsters gig. I am talking to a guy who wants to transfer it onto cd. That will be much better. Just have a slight problem with the quality of my copy. I am going to see if anyone else has a better one.
Will let you know when its ready,
Lee.

Hi Lee,

thanks for that mate, I know the never being at home for long enough to do anything gig, I've been travelling to the wonders of Belfast, Clitheroe etc... of late, the glamour of it all. If your guy doesn't come through I have the technoligy for the CD transfer. I just managed to get everything working on the music computer, and really now have nothing to blame apart from lazyness and lack of inspiration for me not doing anything.

Though I do seem to have found a new drummer and bass player so may use doing some gigs as an excuse instead. Be interesting to see if the Johnny Ramone arm is still up to the job, though after 5 years I think it may have to be upstrokes as well.

Blimey,
Two replies in one night. Doesnt anyone go to bed anymore?

Terry,
The Monsters gig is at the Bridge and even has the "time ladies and gentlemen please" at the end! It is weird to hear that again after all these years. I have the odd Corvettes and Erazerhead recordings from the Bridge as well. I am sure that somewhere in my house I have the first ever Cockney Rejects gig tape as well. You are more than welcome to use any of this material if you want to.

Steve,
I will be back home in a week or so and will be in touch. Silly Mark made the original recording and I will try to track him down as his copy will be the best.
See you all soon,
Lee.
