Hi all,
after 20 odd years, I still have great memories of W.Y. gigs. My Fav. was either the gig at Croc's in Rayleigh (1981) or sadly the last at the Victoria Venue.
Anybody got fav. gigs?

Yes 2 great gigs,we went down to Crocs AS a Favour to Depeche Mode,we wanted to build up a vibe between the 2 Venues,I think Dave Gahan introduced the band on stage that night. would you remember? We heard Crocs was closing or moving,so we took Wasted down there. Its funny now thinking about it. When Depeche mode became famous, they did the same for us at the Bridge House, Trying to keep the venue open. You said the gig at crocs was 1981,would you remember the exact date? The Venue was wasted Youths final gig,it was very sad for me,as well as the Band,They had so much talent,it does take more than talent to make it big time,Dedication, Luck, and clean living help

Hi Terry,
The Crocs gig would have been April '81. We met at the B/House and got the coach. I remember Tom the roadie wouldn't stop singing 'reward'  (Teardrop explodes) and it was great fun.
I also remeber Kenny wore his Artists smock. I'd travelled down with a lot of mates who used to follow the Ants at the time, but W.Y. were def. better and its hard to describe the atmospher around us - it just wasn't the band - it was everything!
As for the Venue gig, I think it was the best. My girlfriend at the time cried on the way home as she felt a big part of her life has simply vanished and there was nothing left!
Blimey! - nearly 25 years ago!

The final gig at the Venue was really something special ,very emotional , almost like losing a loved one .
Since then i've had regular dreams/nightmares! that the band had reformed and i'd somehow missed it ! They really were/are that important to me .
Live the band were untouchable .

I was at the Croc gig too. 25th April to be precise. I seem to remember Ken swinging his mic stand and getting it caught in the low ceiling. Terry has some photos I took that night. Hi Terry.

Does anyone remember the name of an American band that supported Wasted Youth at the Bridge on the old stage?

They all sat around banging and strumming electric guitars in various states of repair, some of the strings were gaffered over and hit with drum sticks.

It all made for a wonderful noise but i never knew who they were.

Thanks.

We have had some tapes recorded onto cds to find out what was on them there was no titles or names on the reel to reel tapes ,a friend in Belgium Ron copied them for me ,well ,there a girl group who sang that  old classic Bobbies Girl, finishing with White Christmas,we are trying to find out who they were.
.Next up was the very first and only recording ever of the Dead Flower,The Monkies Steppping stone,Sung by Martin the original first choice singer ,who at the end of the song said do not judge a band by one number,,there is a good article about this in my book Bridge house Canning town, they were supporting the Tickets, who getting on stage John McGeady  announced ,I do not know how we are going to follow that, but they did so we have a session by the Tickets John Ken Andy Scott, this was the formation of the 2 bands inventing Wasted Youth, Darren had formed the Dead Flowers and it was his first gig ever after only 2 hours of pratice on the bass guitar.Lee Dury was also there on guitar,
After this Martin went away, Darren Andy and Ken Scott Mick Atkins formed WASTED YOUTH, Rocco Barker joing later,he had played in Smak and we also have that on tape,So look forward to Punk at the Bridge featuring all these bands on CD.
Another teaser,we have a punk band recording of the old Nancy Sinatra classic these boots are made for walking, they have changed the lyrics to These boots are made fo Kicking F***ing Heads in,any one remember the name of this band?T.M
