Clearing out my old factory in Stratford, that is being raised to the ground, to make way for the Olympic stadium, found a box of tapes of live recording of bands at the bridge house, most of them are dated and named in Colin Rapps neat handwriting.
one thay is a mystery to me ,although i remember the night 7.6.1977 There called the Jubilee tapes.,I think it must have been the Queens 25 years, can any one confirm was a big Jam session. 2 tapes which is 3 hours ,can any one inform me who the lead singer was..it could have been Jim Hunter,Stevie Smith, a really gruff bluesy voice, but im only guessing.if any one can remember it please let us Know, would colin remember 30 years later?.
when i get them copied and cleaned up ,we will put them on the forum ,,Our C,D is out Live a week @ the Bridge house .well this could well be one year @the Bridge house.Jeff and I Are working at it. T.M

That's good news. I'll search and if I find any information about this, I'll post it here.

Are they going to be free?

cheers

I am searching through the tapes ,i have just found out that,Gary Pickard Hopkins played in a band called Network with John Gosling and Andy Pyle,of the kinks,Dennis Stratton played a few gigs befor he joined iron Maiden, and in came Graham Foster, and surprise,Ron Berg who played with R.D.B ON the Live a week at the Bridge album on  Drums.I have just recieve the Angel Air Solo cd by Gary Pickard Hopkins, and it really is a great ALbum.so if i can find a Network Tape and it is half as good as this album,i will be delighted,I will pass on the details of this album,it really is worth searching for,T.M

Had a Meeting with Jeff Ellis last week regarding these old Cassette tapes,he said there were old and you only get one chance with coping them ,after that they lose the top cover of the tape(the Crust} and the quality,so we only get one chance.we decided to get a list of the regular bands.and offer them to there fans exactly as they were when they were recorded. As far as i am concerned i think they sound great, but then when i listen to them i am back at the bridge house no only listening to them i am seeing them on stage.so i am bias,.we will have to make a charge for these Gigs, they are a whole set, because the have to be copied to Cd ,and Jeff will try to make  them sound better ,So if you remember your favourite band.let us know we will see if we have them, and you can buy them if you want to.

Hey Terry, do you have a list or something? I know a lot of bands I'm interested. And I ask you if there are tapes older than when you assumed the Bridgehouse as a landlord. Let's say... 1975 downwards...

Also a full set of Steve Waller ,blues at it suttle best, he was great, sorry you had to leave us Steve,R.I.P. As a Tribute to him,we may release this on CD
he may  be  gone but certainly not forgotten.,T.M

Hi Terry - re your plea for favorite bands...
For me it has to be RDB of course! Like many others, am still following Den and Dave after all these years and enjoying every gig, whether it be solo, duo or the old firm RDB.
Always a crowd pleaser, and although we, the crowd, are that much older, for a while we are all transported back to our youth at the old Bridge House.

well we have started to clean up the cassettes we have from our golden age at the Bridge ,
when the recordings were made from the old stage
up stairs in the Pub.this would be pre 1980.
I have entrusted this project to a good guy who i have met
via our forum,i am keeping his name a secret at this time,
to save more pressure on him, this is a hard tedious job he is doing,
which we hope will be successful,
and a new Live a Week @ the Bridge,e16 will be created,

Here is a update of the tapes that are being cleaned and  also  being digitally recorded to CD,we will then decide what track will go onto the NEW
Live the Golden Years  @ the Bridge.e16 ,all the recordings so far are from 1977/78,completed but not yet mastered are Remus Down Boulevard.(Dave N Dennis) The Roll Ups,(Lea Hart,Jeff Peters) And Filthy Mc`Nasty,(Chris Thompson and Stevie Lang`a`)In Production at present are Steve Waller,Band and Jackie Lynton,The ,Salt and Gerry McAvoy ,Tapes are proving to be a slight problem.which we will get over.
I have  a Brilliant reel of  tape of Stevie Smith fronting a Gerry Mc`Avoy Jam, with Dave Edwards on Guitar.maybe use that?So a bit more work is needed,i have a great guy working on it ,as well as Jeff Ellis so we will get there, for a release in August ?Ready for the Xmas Rush..
I hope to get a Major distribution deal.but we will release is firstly to our loyal bridgers, and get there opionions so we can inprove this release ,if anyone has any ideas for the Cover and insert ,please send them,we want it to be similar to the first Live A Week @the Bridge E16,which i must add is still selling very well, from our Shop on the  www.thebridgehousee16.com  web site i got a order from France this morning.
But Also its own identity and look,So get them IDEAs into us ASAP Regards Terry M
