I'm glad it went well.
Not my scene all this type of music. How about a 50s revival night sometime, or am I the only one left. Suggest we get some new girls though!!

I'm gutted I missed it! The plan was to drive down, not drink, then drive home again but the few things that I had to get done yesterday all went wrong and by the time I was sorted I wouldn't have got there till about 10

Well, I'm surprised, two days since the book launch and gig. Nothing been said on here except from Steve stating that it was a great night.
So, where are the details for us poor sods that couldn't make it. Like, who turned up to play, any pics taken, how many punters showed up etc etc etc.
Come on. Enquiring minds want to know.

YES I will get the revues to you.,it was absolutely blinding.I had the gig DVD and recorded. I got Darren to get your book signed by all the guys.so send me your address again and i will get it of to you. R.D.B Did a wonderful set of about a hour and half, with all there classic songs, then a 15 min break and Chris Thompson joined them, this was without a dought the best Jam i have ever seen, and as you know i have seen a few, they challange and fought each other to get to the highest notes,it was the battle at okay coral ,once again, and they never had one rehearsal, and Chris never had a monitor.can not wait to see the DVD .and i am not going to show it to any one else,Ha Ha.T.M not sure how many there with loads of guests, but will be over 300.

I'm glad it went well on Friday - I wanted to be there but I live in Yorkshire now and couldn't get down in time. Any chance of a few details - I'd love to know the RDB set list - plus when will the DVD be out? I still can't believe that there are no RDB recordings or DVDs available!
Colin - many thanks for the Prince Albert clip - did you notice the credits say DVD coming soon of RDB live at the Prince Albert - anyone know anything about that? Maybe RDB DVDs are like buses - nothing for 25 years and then two come along at once. I'm not complaining - I'll be happy to buy both.

I've heard that the RDB DVD coming soon is Dennis, Dave, Martin Johnson and Lol D'ell. The same line up as the Prince Albert vid. Not positive though. I have copies of the Riverside and Quarry recordings but I'm not sure where I'm going with them yet. I know that no video or film was done when RDB played the Marquee the first time. I'm the only one that took pictures that night. Jonathan King was as tight as a ducks ass and didn't want to spend the money. I'm also pretty sure that King had a sound recording done but have no idea if anyone has a copy of the tapes. But, didn't they play another gig there in the early 80's. I've got over 500,000 negatives here from 1974 through 2000. There's a lot of stuff from England including Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Status Quo, Queen, Deep Purple and many many others. I've just come across a batch of negs of Rory Gallagher with Gerry McAvoy, Brendan O'Neil and Mark Feltham when they went out as Taste. But, I can't find any of my negs from the BH. I think I left them with TM when I moved up to Birmingham. I'll keep looking though. I've just found some very good 16mm film footage that I shot of quite a few bands gigging at Birminghams NEC. Damn, those were the days. You never know. I may follow Terry's lead and come up with a book of my own. You guys wouldn't believe some of the stories that I could tell........

Well I can't remember the whole set RDB played but here are some of the highlights : Man Of Means, Southern Man, Magnolia, Only For You, Stay With Me Baby, Gunrunner, Bad Booze, Hear Me Calling.
As always, Dave and Dennis were absolutely brilliant. After the session with Chris Thompson the band finished with Rope The Moon which my girlfriend badgered Dave into dedicating to me as it was my birthday!!!!!
Spent quite a bit of the evening catching up with many people I hadn't seen for such a long time. I must thank Milton Reame James for his patience in dealing with my, very drunk, girlfriend Liz.
On a slight tangent, I go to see Dennis and Dave most Sundays at the Prince Albert in Plaistow. They play covers to backing tracks and the session is an absolute must.
Finally with all the talk on the forum of the lack of old RDB recordings I have, and treasure, 3 tapes I made of them down the Bridge in Nov '74, Feb '75 and early '77. These were taped on an old hand held cassette recorder and quality obviously varies greatly but at least I get to listen to 3 gigs whenever I want to.
If you weren't there you missed a stormer Best wishes to all Perry & Liz

Chris Thompson's set was a blinder as well, he did a brilliant solo bit that was my highlight of the evening, especially the Bob Marley cover, the beer unfortunatly has taken it's toll, but I think it was "Redeption song" though I'm happy to be corrected on that. He also did "Blinded by the light", with Colin Barton singing along at the top of his voice, and "The Mighty Quinn".
The book, for those who haven't got it yet, is brilliant, lots of memories for me and my good lady wife who wasn't even in the UK when the pub closed could not put it down, so you don't have to have been there to find it a great read.
Terry, I should have let you know that a chap called Ian Ritchie, who was on the door, and me actually charged Mick and Keith to come in the night that they came down to see Charlie, it started a lark, with Keith saying has wasn't going to pay to see his own drummer, and ended with Mick chucking 20 quid at us, saying "Charlie needs the cash".
