I spoke to Betty, (Micks mum) today - and she heard from the coroner that after the autopsy the cause of death is inconclusive so until they run further tests and get the results back they are unable to release the body, sign the death certificate etc.

i will be visiting her on sunday with carol who also played with the famous monsters and will report back any developments.

it's really comforting that so many friends of mick have left messages both here and on myspace etc.
and i've been feeding them back to betty

I phoned Mick shortly after his mum found him dead as it was the day after my birthday and Mick and I would always be the same age for a week.  His birthday is the 15th Oct. He was looking forward to the future, especially Christmas and had asked if i was interested in doing some recording.  I said that I was as we never recorded half enough in the Famous Monsters. I played bass.  I am as mystified as I am saddened by his death.  They found nothing to indicate any major organ failure and have to re-examine him so they won't be able to release his body until they have something to put on the death certificate i suppose.  Can anyone contact Paul Romane?

Hello Terry, I think Mick would have been nearly 46 when he died.
Micks mum rang me yesterday and to help her out I have offered my house as the meeting point for the funeral, whenever it may be. I am just around the corner from Micks.
A few people have suggested that we do a tribute/memorial gig for Mick. I think if we do, all proceeds should go to Micks mum to help with the costs of the funeral etc. I doubt if we can get something together before the funeral so I suggest as most of Micks old friends are musicians we can get together on the day of the funeral to arrange something and any one who would like to contribute can make themselves known.
A few Youth songs, October Revolution songs, Famous Monsters etc should make for a good night.
I think an open mike night to go with the gig would be good and if people want to get up and do Wild Thing, Runaround Sue, Chinese Rocks, Born Too Loose (Micks tatoo) or any other old standards then why not?
No pressure, not too serious, just a fun night. All egos to be left at the front door.
I have not told Betty about this as I have never really earned any money from a gig so dont know how much we could raise. Maybe we could have the BH2 for a night?
What does everyone else think?
Lee.

Hi Lee,exactly my feelings, with some luck,if dates click,if Tony Nicholls agrees, the reception and gig after the funeral, could be at the B.H.2?
who ever arrives can make a donation on entering the club,if they felt that they wanted to,I will ring Tony tomorrow, and find out his feelings, but first we need to find out when Mick is ready to go?
at the club the P.A and drums are already there, make it a bit easier.
After i ring Tony ,i will ring you i have got your numberTerry M
Dell on Drums?

Lee,

I'm in, I'll chuck in money for every bum note I play, to be serious though I think on this occasion the good old fashion jar for contributions is all we should need, I'll give you a call tomorrow as I'm home again, this has kind of given me a bit of a knock to be honest.

So mad at myself for losing a diary years ago when me and Mick where having chat about the next heartbreakers type thing to do, we managed a jam at his house, then I went abroad working for a bit, lost my diary, and Johnny Thunders died, and me and Mick used to just meet at Thunders gigs, we knew we'd both be there.

...and then alot of years past.....

Dear all,
I'll play the drums all night - no worries.
Wasted Youth/Thunders/October Revolution - lets make Mick proud.

Terry has been in touch with the boys from the BH2 and it should be ok to have the reception after the funeral at the new Bridge House with a gig in the evening.
People can make a donation at the door if they want to.
If enough people come forward to do some kind of night of music for Mick then we may be able to get in there the previous day to rehearse.
So far we have Darren, Rocco?, Dell, Jeff, Steve, Tom and myself.
The ball is in your court ladies and gentlemen.
I know its short notice but lets do our best for an old mate.
Lee.

No news regarding dates at present. Until the inquest is sorted there's no way of even guessing. I was over at betty's on saturday and she has a letter from the coronors office so we will both phone them on monday and try to find out whats happening. The home team are supposed to be helping betty out but so far they haven't even called round once since Mick died. Nice to know what a caring society we live in isn't it?

Soon as they give us a clue when, it will be action stations, cheers to evryone for their messages about Mick, i'll make sure betty.   gets copies of them all. If any of you are on Myspace, please spread the word so as many people who would want to know find out about it in time. Tom
